Senior Helpdesk Advisor (Employment Law)

What’s the role?

As a Senior Helpdesk Advisor within our Member Contact Centre, you’ll use your professional attitude, communication skills and customer service experience to deliver an excellent service to Prospect members and potential members. You will be responsible for supporting and advising individuals through our Professional Advice Line and representing their cases with employers for issues such as grievances and disciplinary meetings to ensure successful outcomes.

Your role will be widely varied through providing support and advice on a broad range of complex employment issues and looking at how we can organise and recruit members. You’ll need to have an empathetic and understanding manner and be able to work confidently with our members to ensure Prospect delivers world class customer service.

 Essential Experience

  • Experience of providing complex employment law advice either face to face or in a contact centre environment
  • Experience of representing members in meetings with employers
  • Experience of learning new systems to a high standard
  • Experience of working proactively, self-managing time and workload
  • Experience of capturing detailed information and data input
  • Proven track record of providing excellent customer service, preferably within in a contact centre
  • Experience of providing support and advice to customers

What’s the role?

Prospect is looking for an experienced Organiser on a 1 year fixed term contract to work with the Edinburgh Office team supporting members across Great Britain. The successful candidate will have good communication and organisational skills and demonstrate an understanding of organising across both the public and private sector.

The successful candidate must have a strong campaigning background as they will be responsible for recruitment and retention initiatives, helping to develop new and existing Branch structures in order to meet their needs and ensure successful outcomes.

You will need to:

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, reps, members and employers
  • Develop branch capabilities for organisation and recruitment and to work on specific recruitment campaigns
  • Have strong planning, organising, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Manage personal autonomy whilst working across boundaries to sustain relationships with stakeholders, groups of members and colleagues
  • Want to make the world of work better for everyone through promoting membership and the values of the trade union movement.

Where this role fits in

This role is part of the Scotland team based in Edinburgh.

You will be working with other colleagues in the team and with our research, legal and communications teams, and with our volunteer representatives providing support for campaigns and branch organising and training.
