Prospect members at AWE have voted overwhelmingly to accept a two year pay deal secured by Prospect with the employer.

The deal which sees members receive an average consolidated pay rise of 2.75% in 2020 and 2.80% in 2021 and will be backdated to 1 June 2020.

Bob King, Prospect negotiations officer, said:

“The deal was crucial in recognising the hard work and dedication of highly skilled staff who work to keep our country safe every single day.

“By paying a proper pay rise to its staff the AWE is ensuring that members can meet the rising cost of living, as well as keep spending in the local economy in a particularly challenging economic climate.

“We are also pleased that the employer was persuaded not to take forward proposals on Flexibility, Agility, and Mobility (FAM) as part of the pay settlement, and any changes on this in future will be proposed and negotiated separately.

“As one of our fastest growing branches, our AWE branch shows what can be achieved for members when employees join and are active in the union.”

The deal also includes an extra non-consolidated payment for the lowest paid staff of £250 in 2020/21 and £300 in 2021/22.

The deal also establishes a working group with representation for Prospect to look at improving progression for staff in certain pay grades.
