Education & Children’s Services webinar series

Catch up with the Education & Children’s Services webinar series

Every term Prospect’s Education & Children’s Services (ECS) members come together for an online networking and learning session as part of our webinar series.

This is where you can find information from these sessions. First up are two videos and a presentation from our session on mental health and work/life balance, which took place late last year. A report of our April session on the “middle tier” will follow shortly.

Make sure you watch out for the next session, which will be advertised by email, and sign up to become part of the conversation.

Mental health and stress

We had heard from interactions with individual members that increased workloads were becoming a common issue for workers in Education and Children’s Services so we decided to put out a ThoughtExchange question to find out more.

What you told us that amongst other things lack of workspace at home, managing the mental health of overworked Heads and lack of clarity over roles were major causes of stress. Watch our presentation to see what else arose and what you could potentially talk to colleagues about.

Also check out our guidance on stress and mental health at work, including what to do if you are experiencing stress.

Chris Warburton, Prospect’s Health and Safety Officer talks about workplace stress.

In this presentation he talks about the causes of stress, particularly post pandemic and gives a more general picture on how it is affecting many people. He also goes over ways that you can help manage that stress and links to useful information for you and your colleagues.

Read our Five ways to recognise employee burnout blog and let us know if you feel you or one of your colleagues needs help.
