Ophthalmic Branch
Prospect is the trade union for ophthalmic sector professionals, covering optometrists, dispensing opticians, contact lens opticians and students of these professions.
We provide a clear and growing voice, putting your voice at the centre of the debate about all issues relating to work. Our members work together to give each other a stronger voice in the workplace.
Despite being a long-standing industry with a number of professional bodies and with large employers, such as the NHS, to smaller independent practices, ophthalmic professionals have – until recently – been without a trade union.
Now, a growing number of professionals in the industry are joining together as Prospect members to make work better.
What do I get from being a Prospect member?
Being a Prospect member is all about having a collective voice. If we want to make things better at work, we’ll be much more successful if we come together to do that.
We’ll work constructively with employers to make sure you thrive at work – and we’ll be more successful in this mission the more members we have.
Being a union member also means you receive free, direct support from trained professionals if an issue occurs at work – we can support you right through to a legal defence at a tribunal if necessary.
We are continuing to investigate ways we can support members by providing CET and additional benefits which we know are valued by our members.
