Run by members, for members
Prospect is a democratic organisation with a proud 100-year history of being run by members, for members.
Your membership fee is reinvested in your union to develop the support and representation you need. We don’t make a profit.
We encourage every member to get involved to shape the union. You can meet other members to share ideas and set priorities through conferences, elected committees, local branches and networks.
Over 6,000 of our members have either been elected by their co-workers or volunteered to represent their colleagues in roles such as workplace rep and health and safety rep.
Our staff work across the UK, in our London headquarters and regional offices including the Channel Islands and Isle of Man.
We employ more than 50 full-time negotiators who act on your behalf, teams of pensions, legal and education experts, as well as policy, communications and organising colleagues.
We’re independent of any political party which means when we make your voice heard with decision-makers, they know we’re reflecting your real experiences and opinions.
Our members work in diverse areas such as agriculture, broadcasting, creative industries, data and technology, defence, education, energy, environment, heritage, shipbuilding, public services, telecoms and transport.
Our Bectu sector is the leading union for people in media, entertainment and the creative industries.
And while our members work full-time, part-time, flexibly, and as consultants and freelancers, we all have something in common – we’re ambitious to support each other, grow our skills and succeed in our careers.
