Can I increase my state pension if I don’t have enough NI credits?

Last updated: 09 Dec 2020

You may be able to pay Class 3 voluntary national insurance (NI) contributions to fill gaps in your national insurance record to boost the level of your state pension. In certain situations you may qualify for NI credits that can be used to build up your state pension entitlement.

The Government has information regarding paying voluntary NI contributions here and information regarding NI credits here.
