Your guide to talking about your union

Woman talking to support group

The more members who join, the stronger your union is. To help you talk to colleagues take a look at our guide to talking about your union for some hints and tips on talking to your team.

When you speak to your colleagues remember that joining a union is good for them, it’s good for you and its good for all of the other members in the union. In fact by strengthening the union they are making things better for all working people in the UK.

Within the guide we have provided some example scripts that you can use when having the conversation. The first may be useful when you don’t have an active campaign going in your branch and the second more appropriate when you do.

If you are not a branch rep, we would encourage you to check in with your branch reps before you get started as they may be co-ordinating the activities in your branch. Also, let them know how your conversations went as the information you get when having your conversations will be important to them.
