General Secretary of Prospect Mike Clancy said:

“The Home Secretary’s announcement of further restrictions on air travel today may be necessary to control the pandemic, but they will come as a further blow to confidence in an aviation sector which is already in serious trouble.

“There is a limit to how much further damage this sector can take without permanent harm to jobs, vital infrastructure, and our chances of bouncing back economically from this pandemic.

“Ever since the pandemic started Prospect has been calling for specific targeted support to get this sector through. For the most part it has not been forthcoming and we are seeing the result in job losses in airlines, airports, air traffic control, the supply chain, aerospace and elsewhere. Proper support is needed now.”
