New restrictions must prompt more support for aviation workers

5 December 2021
Prospect has responded to news that both the UK and countries overseas have put in place further restrictions on travel, something which will undoubtably have a knock-on effect on our members.

Mike Clancy, Prospect General Secretary said:

“The government needs to urgently bring forward financial arrangements to support the aviation industry and help workers facing further uncertainty over the coming weeks.

“Whilst it is right that public health remains our national priority it cannot come at the expense of protecting jobs and livelihoods, including access to flexible furlough where needed.

“Uncertainty is writ large across a whole range of industries from aviation to live events, and we cannot simplify abandon people who have already faced a tough two years thanks to the pandemic.”
