Prospect and Wessex Archaeology agree furlough deal
Archaeologists across the UK are among the many groups of workers who are benefiting from being in Prospect during the coronavirus pandemic.
Wessex Archaeology has agreed with Prospect that nobody who is furloughed will get less than the Living Wage Foundation rate of £9.30 an hour for a 37-hour week.
Prospect negotiator Andy Bye said: “This agreement means that anyone normally earning less that £22,367 will at least get the Living Wage Foundation rate of pay while they are furloughed.
“I know it is not 100%, but it sets a basic minimum that will be benefit many members.
“Prospect and Wessex worked together on this and it demonstrates the benefit of positive union/employer engagement over furlough.”
Wessex Archaeology has offices in Bristol, Edinburgh, Maidstone, Salisbury and Sheffield.
