The deal, worth 6.75% with a £1000 lump sum for 2022 and a further 6% and £1000 for 2023, was overwhelmingly accepted by members in Prospect branches covering the Land and Maritime business.

Prospect negotiations were led by Steven Roberts and Bob King along with GMB and Unite unions, under the umbrella of the Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions (CSEU).

Prospect’s Head of Defence Industry Group, Bob King said :

“This was the first time we had engaged with BAE for all 21 bargaining units at once and whilst negotiations were tough, we’re pleased with the outcome. The key now, for Prospect, is that our members in grades not covered by collective bargaining receive a comparable uplift. We’re all struggling with the current cost of living crisis and BAE must recognise this in ‘exec’ grades as well as the very real threat that we will lose talent to competitors. We are in dialogue with BAE and hopeful that a solution will be forthcoming very soon.”
