Prospect members were due to take a day’s strike action on 7 June, having previously taken strike action on 15 March and 10 May. They have also been taking action short of a strike, including working to rule and an overtime ban, continuously since 16 March. That will continue for now.

This has been the largest industrial action Prospect has taken in more than a decade.

Daniel Maney, Prospect union Negotiations Officer, said:

“We have agreed to pause our planned strike action by Welsh civil servants because the Welsh Government have communicated their willingness to engage in meaningful talks.

“Throughout this dispute, we have made clear that our members should not be treated worse than other workers in the public sector and that they deserve a pay deal that recognises the cost-of-living crisis that began last year.

“We are entering these talks in good faith hence our calling off the strike action due for 7 June, but we will maintain our action short of a strike and review that position in light of the talks that are promised.”

Undeb Prospect yn gohirio streic yn dilyn cynnig am drafodaethau ystyrlon gan Lywodraeth Cymru

Mae undeb Prospect wedi penderfynu gohirio’r streic a drefnwyd gan y Gwasanaeth Sifil yn dilyn cynnig gan Lywodraeth Cymru i gymryd rhan mewn trafodaethau ystyrlon.

Meddai Daniel Maney, Swyddog Negodi undeb Prospect:

“Rydym wedi cytuno i ohirio’r streic yn y Gwasanaeth Sifil gan fod Llywodraeth Cymru wedi mynegi parodrwydd i gymryd rhan mewn trafodaethau ystyrlon.”

“Trwy gydol yr anghydfod hwn, rydym wedi bod yn glir na ddylai ein haelodau gael eu trin yn waeth na gweithwyr eraill yn y sector gyhoeddus, a’u bod nhw’n haeddu cytundeb cyflog sy’n cydnabod yr argyfwng costau byw a ddechreuodd y llynedd. ”

“Rydym yn ymgymryd â’r trafodaethau hyn yn ddidwyll, felly dyna pam rydym wedi gohirio’r streic a drefnwyd ar gyfer y 7fed Mehefin, ond byddwn yn parhau efo’r gweithredu’n fyr o streic gan adolygu’r safbwynt hwnnw yn dilyn y trafodaethau a addewir. ”
