Prospect responds to BT pay award after failure to reach agreement
BT is attempting to impose a pay award for managers in BT that is significantly below inflation, on the back of a two-year pay freeze in 2020 and 2021.
John Ferrett, National Secretary for Prospect’s Tech & Telecoms sector, said:
“Prospect’s negotiations team left no stone unturned in trying to reach an agreement with BT that would guarantee a pay rise for all our members.
“We made the case strenuously to BT that all members needed a pay rise in view of the two-year pay freeze in 2020-2021 that led to a loss in real terms pay.”
“BT has said individual awards are ‘discretionary’ so not all members are guaranteed a pay rise. With the award worth 3-4% at a time that CPI inflation is 7% and due to rise, we cannot recommend this pay award to our members in BT.”
