Prospect: Union business as usual in Scotland

Prospect says it is ready to work with employers and government in post-referendum Scotland. 

Anne Douglas, national secretary for Prospect Scotland said: “Prospect has been steadfastly neutral on independence, and is not affiliated to any political party. However, over the last two years, we have worked hard to ensure that our members are able to make an informed decision on the impact of a Yes or No vote on the industries and sectors in which they work.

“This work culminated in the publication of our report: “Our voice- Our Future” which provided responses from the Yes and No campaigns to work-related issues of critical interest to our members.

“The people of Scotland have voted in overwhelming numbers. An unprecedented level of debate has taken place across Scotland and now we have a result. Prospect has always made clear that, regardless of the outcome of the referendum, it will be there on behalf of its members.

“Although the people of Scotland voted No in the referendum it is clear that the status quo will not remain and that further significant powers will be devolved to Scotland. It is important that Prospect takes an active part in implementing further devolution to ensure that the interests of our members continue to be represented. At this time of significant change, there never has been a more important time to be a member of Prospect.”
