We need to understand the wider impact of Vodafone/Three merger on the sector
It has been announced that, subject to approval from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), Vodafone and Three are to be merged.
The combined group, which will comprise only their respective UK operations, will be majority-owned by Vodafone with 51% of the equity.
John Ferrett, National Secretary of Prospect union, said:
“Prospect welcomes efforts within the telecoms sector to increase investment, which should hopefully lead to greater job quality and security for our members. But we are keen to understand the wider impact this merger could have for the other UK mobile networks and our members working there.
“We will follow the CMA’s review closely and support our members to ensure that their interests are at the forefront of any future business planning decisions.”
