After latest “Pestminster” scandal Parliament must bring forward vote on exclusion at the nearest opportunity
Parliament’s Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme (ICGS) has recommended the suspension of Peter Bone MP after an investigation found him guilty of bullying and of one incident of sexual misconduct.
The Conservative Party had been investigating but nothing happened. Also, while the ICGS were investigating, Peter Bone was appointed Deputy Leader of the House of Commons.
Mike Clancy, General Secretary of Prospect, said:
“The idea that an MP under a party investigation for sexual misconduct allegations could be appointed Deputy Leader of the House of Commons – at a time when Parliament was embroiled in the Pestminster scandal – beggars belief.
“Did no one at CCHQ think this was an unwise and unacceptable move? Was Parliament informed at any time that Bone was under investigation?
“The Government must bring forward a vote on excluding MPs under investigation for violent and sexual offences from accessing the parliamentary estate as soon as possible.”
