Cardiff Question Time debate

16 March 2015

Welsh politicians will debate general election issues this evening at a Question Time event organised by Prospect, the union for over 5,000 public and private sector specialists in Wales.

The event takes place at Cardiff’s council chamber at City Hall, and begins at 5.30pm.

The panel consists of Mari Williams, Labour candidate for Cardiff North; Bethan Jenkins AM, Plaid Cymru; Meirion Jenkins, Conservative candidate Bridgend; and Paul Halliday, Liberal Democrat candidate for Newport West. The debate chair is Martin Shipton, chief reporter, Western Mail.

Parliamentary officer Graham Stewart said the event was a good opportunity for Prospect members in Wales to engage with the political community in the run-up to the general election in May.

“Prospect is not affiliated to any political party and that allows us to ask challenging questions of all our politicians. The union is doing more than ever to give its members information they need on national issues as well as their own sectors so that on the day they can make an informed choice in the polling booth,” said Stewart.

As part of its general election programme Prospect is organising another Question Time event in Edinburgh on March 23; has published a briefing pack for members on key issues in its areas; encouraging members to meet local candidates and for them to sign up to Prospect’s pledge campaign and has set up a general election.
