Higher offshore wind price is welcome but government must work with stakeholders to create a strategy for good clean jobs

16 November 2023

The government has announced that it is to raise the price paid for offshore wind generation by 66%.

This follows an auction earlier in the year that saw not a single bid for new offshore wind projects.

Sue Ferns, Prospect Senior Deputy General Secretary, said:

“Having wasted valuable time, creating unnecessary uncertainty, this is welcome news.

“Government must now work with all stakeholders and take the opportunity to align low carbon energy policy with a wider industrial strategy that creates and sustains good clean energy jobs.”
