Historic Day For Heritage in Scotland
Historic Scotland and the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland merged to become Historic Environment Scotland on 1 October.
HES has been established as the new body to investigate, care for and promote Scotland’s historic environment and will build on the strong and long-established performance of Historic Scotland and the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland.
Prospect members at both organisations have been committed to the cause of protecting and recording the country’s heritage for decades now and their dedication is matched only by their enthusiasm for the conservation of Scotland’s built heritage. The two existing branches of members will join together to form a new branch of Prospect in March 2016 which will be one of the biggest heritage branches in Scotland.
Prospect would like to thank all their members at HS and RCAHMS for their support over the years and for engaging with the trade union side processes as and when required. Prospect will continue to assist and represent members at work in the new organisation. Thanks must also go to Angela Gannon (RCAHMS) and Mairi Davies (HS) for leading their fellow reps through the negotiations in creating the new organisation of HES.
