Horizon Europe – UK must prioritise getting deal over the line

Prospect has responded to reports of Universities UK writing to the UK government to warn of a cliff edge on negotiations over Horizon Europe.

Garry Graham, Deputy General Secretary of Prospect union said:

“Science is an international endeavour and the UK must prioritise ensuring that we get agreement on the UKs participation in Horizon Europe over the line.

“Concerns over funding and participation are already having a negative impact on the sector and our international competitiveness, with real concerns about recruitment and job security.

“If the UK is to have a thriving high skilled economy, drive productivity and provide high quality jobs- science needs to by a priority, not a bargaining chip.”
