If the Leader of the House believes a full return is safe he must publish the evidence to prove it
Leader of the House Jacob Rees-Mogg Mp is pressing ahead with plans to end the hybrid operation of parliament which allows MPs to participate remotely.
Garry Graham, deputy general secretary of Prospect which represents staff in parliament, responded:
“If the Leader of the House truly believes that his plan for a premature and unnecessary end to the hybrid parliament is safe, then he should publish the evidence to prove it.
“Staff and MPs deserve to see it in writing from Public Health England that it is safe to conduct voting in the manner he plans and safe for MPs to travel to and from parliament from their constituencies.
“If Jacob Rees-Mogg is unwilling to do this then the only conclusion that can be drawn is that he is sacrificing safety simply to create good PR for the government.”
