Investment in advanced nuclear fuels recognition our world leading technology and people

Prospect has responding to an announcement by the UK Government of £196 million for Urenco to build a uranium enrichment facility at Capenhurst in Cheshire.
Sue Ferns, Prospect senior deputy general secretary, said:
“Investment in advanced nuclear fuels, particularly in the north west of England, is an important recognition of some of the world leading nuclear technology and people that we have to offer.
“More also still needs to be done though to make sure the Springfields fuel manufacturing site can thrive in future, and that the skills built up there are retained.
“The nuclear and wider energy industry is crying out for a proper industrial strategy, with skills, investment and innovation at its heart.”
