Nuclear Skills Charter welcome but must be backed up with action

15 May 2024

The UK Nuclear Skills Taskforce has published a UK Nuclear Skills Charter, a document designed to help coordinate and secure the skills the sector needs for the coming years.

The Charter covers both the nuclear energy industry and defence so that both can thrive with the skills they require.

Sue Ferns, Senior Deputy General Secretary of Prospect, said:

“The UK Nuclear Skills Charter is a welcome step on the path to developing and safeguarding the skills the nuclear industry needs to thrive in the UK.

“The ambitions set out in the charter must be backed up by concrete action if it is to be more than just warm words.

“This is a real opportunity to secure good quality jobs and the priority must be delivering them in the locations they are most needed.”
