Prison staff pay rise 2019
Prospect is pleased to announce that a pay rise for Prison staff has finally been agreed following a lengthy delay.
The government accepted in full the recommendations of The independent Prison Service Pay Review Body’s (PSPRB) which recommended pay increases of at least 2.2% for all staff and 3% for Band 3 officers on the ‘Fair and Sustainable’ terms and conditions.
Phil Copple, Director General for Prisons, said: “I welcome today’s news and thank the Pay Review Body for their work in considering the pay awards.
“These recommendations recognise the contribution of our staff – in both Fair and Sustainable pay structures (F&S) as well as in our closed grades. By accepting the Pay Review Body’s recommendations, the government has acknowledged the challenging work our staff do, and the critical role they play daily.”
