Prospect members at V&A have voted overwhelmingly to reject a pay offer and indicated that if it is not improved they are willing to take industrial action including strike action.

On a turnout of 92%, 89% voted to reject the pay offer which represents a below inflation 3% for many of our members. In a parallel indicative ballot, 90% said they would be willing to take industrial action including strike action.

Prospect is also pushing for V&A to become an accredited living wage employer.

Deputy General Secretary of Prospect Noel McClean said:

“With inflation at 3.3% and likely to go higher in the wake of international events a pay offer of only 3% for most of our members is a real terms pay cut.

“’We welcome moves to pay the London Living Wage but doing this by cutting the real terms pay of others, still impacted by the cost-of-living crisis, is unacceptable.

“In its own words the V&A has “had a good year” and our members have been at the heart of that, not least in going above and beyond to the new high profile East London sites ready for opening. They deserve a fair pay rise.

“We don’t want to take industrial action but our members have indicated that if V&A doesn’t come back with afair offerthey are more than willing to go down that route.”
