Prospect members working at Draken Europe to take strike action
Prospect members working at aerospace company Draken (in Hurn, near Bournemouth, and Teesside) will take strike action from the 20th to 21st of January inclusive.
This is part of ongoing industrial action in a dispute about pay which has failed to keep up with competitors in the industry.
Prospect members work, for example, as highly skilled engineers keeping the historic fleet of Falcon 20s airworthy for military training. Through inspections, proactive maintenance, and innovative solutions, they ensure these critical aircraft remain airworthy and continue to provide invaluable adversary air training to the Royal Air Force (RAF) and Royal Navy (RN).
Action short of a strike including work to rule has been ongoing and will recommence after the two days of strike action.
Rachel Curley, Deputy General Secretary of Prospect, said:
“Our members at Draken have been left with no choice but to take strike action because pay has fallen so far behind industrial competitors.
“Pay is so uncompetitive that people are already leaving to work elsewhere – Draken really need to consider the impact this could have on the ongoing viability of the business.
“It’s time the company came back to the table with an offer our members can accept.”
