Prospect reps at Sellafield mark Transgender Day of Visibility
The company’s main office block will fly the transgender pride and rainbow flags for the first time at the nuclear site.
International Transgender Day of Visibility is an annual event on 31 March dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness.
One of the union’s equality reps, Andi-Elizabeth Rutherford, led the campaign for this day to be recognised at Sellafield.
Andi-Elizabeth said: “I am absolutely delighted that Sellafield is flying the transgender pride flag. It shows that the company is serious about promoting an inclusive workplace.
“This is an opportunity to break down barriers and focus on the positive aspects of trans people’s lives.
“As well as flags above our heads, we will be promoting Prospect’s LGBT+ network,” Andi concluded.
