Prospect responds to the prime minister’s CBI speech on Brexit
Sue Ferns, Prospect union’s senior deputy general secretary, responding to the prime minister’s CBI speech today, said:
“With just a few months to go until we leave the European Union there is no immigration white paper and it is staggering that the prime minister is still unable to provide basic details about the future immigration regime.
“She says she wants a system that ‘works for business’ but the CBI has told her, and unions agree, that ‘what has been proposed so far won’t work’.
“Skills and salary are not the same thing, and basing the new system on this misconception will leave both public and private sectors without the skills and people they need to succeed in the future.
“The prime minister should listen and change course rather than continuing to allow her policy to be driven by dogma and myths about immigration.”
