Prospect urges public servants to support government’s call for help in delivering booster programme

13 December 2021

Prospect has welcomed a call asking government departments and agencies to encourage civil servants to volunteer to support the vaccine programme.

The call, by Cabinet Secretary Sir Simon Case, and Permanent Secretary at the Department for Health and Social Care Sir Chris Wormald, came after the Prime Minister pledged to give every eligible adult a booster vaccination by the end of December.

Mike Clancy, Prospect General Secretary said:

“It is imperative that the booster vaccine programme proceeds as quickly as it possibly can.

“It is right that the government have called on civil servants to support the programme and we would urge those staff who can, to join the efforts.

“This once again underlines the vital role that public servants fulfil in protecting and supporting the whole of society.

“As a union, we would urge everyone to take up the offer of a vaccine or booster as soon as possible to help keep themselves, their colleagues and their friends and family as safe as possible this winter.”
