Prospect’s Air Traffic Control Officers’ (ATCO) branch celebrated their 75th anniversary at a special event in London on 15 January 2025 to mark the rich history of union representation for aviation professionals.
A highlight of the event were the heartfelt thanks paid to several key individuals for their years of exemplary service to the union and the aviation industry.
A special tribute was paid to Paul Winstanley, the outgoing Branch Chair, whose leadership over the past 19 years and more than 30 years of service to the union has left a lasting impact.
Paul’s unwavering commitment to advocating for the welfare of air traffic controllers, alongside his dedication to improving working conditions and safety standards, has helped shape the branch into a strong voice within the aviation sector.
Also receiving recognition was Steve Jary, who has stepped down after a distinguished career as National Secretary covering aviation and Air Traffic Management (ATM).
Steve’s expertise and leadership were instrumental in guiding the union through complex challenges facing the aviation industry, and his departure marks the end of an era of outstanding service.
Another key figure, Simon Underwood, was also thanked for his long and valuable service as Chair of the NATS Airports Section.
