Richard Hardy reappointed to Scotland’s Just Transition Commission

15 December 2021

The Scottish Government has just announced the membership for the next term of its Just Transition Commission and Prospect’s Scottish National Secretary Richard Hardy has been reappointed.

The purpose of the Juist Transition Commission is to provide scrutiny and advice to the Scottish Government on achieving its climate goals in a way that ensures we protect jobs, and skills and reach net zero in a fair way.

 Richard Hardy said:

“It’s a privilege to be reappointed to Scotland’s Just Transition Commission. Moving to net zero is a challenge not only of technology and government commitment, but of fairness.

“We have the opportunity to not only protect existing jobs and skills but to create new ones and secure future economic fairness and prosperity. This will only happen though if we put the goal of a Just Transition at the heart of decision-making and that is what the Just transition Commission is there to do.”

“Now is the time to make Just Transition a reality for working people.”
