WPD members vote to accept pay offer

A two-year pay offer put forward by Western Power Distribution has been accepted in a ballot of Prospect members and the other recognised trade unions.

In the first year, with effect from 1 April, there will be a 4.2% increase on all salaries.

In addition, any staff required to do standby or work on a bank holiday, including shift workers that are not rostered to work that day, to be given the option to take a day off in lieu or claim a single time payment for the day in question.  

In 2019, the pay award will be calculated by the Retail Price Index measure of inflation plus 0.50%, with a minimum award of 3%.

Prospect national secretary Steve Thomas said: “This pay award reflects good industrial relations, the ongoing success of the business and our members’ critical contributions to that. Western Power is facing new challenges with changing demand and rapidly changing technology; an engaged and fairly rewarded workforce will be critical in meeting those.”
