Resources for reps

Not all Prospect reps wear capes, but all reps are superheroes. All the benefits of Prospect membership are only possible because of your dedication and hard work.

Sign up for our Reps’ Fortnight online events

Reps’ fortnight is running from 5-18 September and we would love for you to get involved and expand your skills as a rep.

Each of these free sessions will run for 1 hour, so come prepared to join in the conversation and ask any questions you might have.

Equality, diversity and inclusion, Thurs 8 Sept 12:30pm

In 2021, Prospect published its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy with a clear plan to transform our own inclusion work and to become more effective in championing the rights of members at work. In this webinar, we will introduce new resources we have produced to assist, build confidence and support reps when representing members and engaging with employers.

Joining Conversations Workshop, Fri 9 Sept 10am

If you know you need to get new joiners into your branch but feel nervous about having that conversation with them then this is the course for you. In this interactive workshop we will go through the how and why of joining conversations, talk through a script to help you gain confidence and give you some practice in a safe space.

Communications and Semantics, Mon 12 Sept 12:30pm

An interactive workshop to help reps start the process of developing effective branch communications with a particular focus on the importance of the words we use to gain engagement with members and non-members.

Who are Prospect?, Tues 13 September 12:30pm

This session is suitable for newer members and those who want to know a bit more about the basics of how trade unions work, what they do and a little about the areas that Prospect works in. We will also answer your questions about how Prospect works.

Training year ahead, Tues 13 September 2pm

This session is aimed at all reps and activists – whether you are considering getting more involved in your union, a new rep or one of our more experienced reps. We will provide an overview of the national reps training programme for the remainder of 2022 and for 2023, and also give you a chance to meet the team and ask any questions on our reps training or wider vocational skills programmes.

Health and safety rep essentials – inspections, Weds 14 Sept 12:30pm

This webinar is for health and safety reps. It is part of a new series of bi-monthly webinars looking at reps’ core skills and functions. Whether you’re new to the health and safety rep role, or simply want to brush up on your knowledge, these webinars will give you a deeper understanding of a range of key topics. This webinar will be held on the Microsoft Teams platform.

Campaigning 101, Thurs 15 Sept 10am

Campaigning is a process to bring about change, it is a planned process rather than a one-off event or social media post. Find out how you can bring about change, large or small, in your workplace by joining this workshop.

Using LinkedIn to organise, Fri 16 Sept 12:30pm

LinkedIn is a space where people talk about work and careers, making it an ideal platform to bring unions into the discussion. In this session, our Senior Digital Organiser will discuss ways you can use LinkedIn to organise, build networks and recruit new members.
