Prospect is the UK’s leading energy trade union. We represent a growing membership of more than 22,500 workers across the energy industry.

Our members work in energy generation, transmission, distribution, retail and research roles in all parts of the UK. They are the engineers, managers, and specialists keeping our energy system running and driving us towards a net zero future.

Prospect is a strong advocate for a secure and decarbonised energy system that supports good jobs in all parts of the country. We help our members win a better deal at work and campaign on issues affecting the sector – shaping the national debate on everything from industrial strategy to a just transition.

An established and respected voice for energy workers, Prospect leads the union contribution to the National Health and Safety Advisory Committee and Powering Improvement programme. We work with industry bodies such as RenewableUK, the Energy Networks Association, Nuclear Skills Group, and Nuclear Industry Association.

Prospect lays out industrial strategy plan to help decarbonise the grid

Prospect has published a new report setting out how industrial strategy can help the government decarbonise our power supply by 2030 and achieve our net zero goals. The report Energising a green industrial strategy looks at the factors necessary to successfully achieve our goals in this area taking in policy clarity, finance, skills and governance.

Energy industry statement follows Prospect’s pioneering work against violence and abuse of workers

The right of energy workers to carry out their duties free from abuse, threats and violence is the subject of a joint statement issued in September by the Energy Networks Association and Energy UK.
