How to become an active union member

Active members are the foundation of your union. By becoming more active, you can make a real difference by helping to:

• inform colleagues about their right to join a union
• recruit new members
• make your branch more visible
• organise for recognition if you don’t have it yet
• promote Prospect’s equality networks.

Becoming more active is the first step on the pathway to becoming a rep. The majority of Prospect reps take on casework in their branch and there are many other important rep roles like Health & Safety, Equalities and Learning.
