Final Investment Decision is ‘vital next step’ to deliver Sizewell C
The government’s sign-off on a Final Investment Decision for Sizewell C is welcomed by Prospect, hailing it as one of the most important engineering projects of the next decade.

Ed Miliband MP, the Energy Secretary, signed the Final Investment Decision for Sizewell C on Tuesday, 22 July, that finally gives the green light after years of delays.
The plant, when built, will deliver clean power for the equivalent of six million homes and support 10,000 jobs once operational.
Responding to the news, Sue Ferns OBE, Prospect Senior Deputy General Secretary, said:
“This is a vital next step to progressing Sizewell C.
“This will be one of the most important engineering projects of the next decade, delivering thousands of high-quality jobs.
“At the same time, it will provide millions of homes and industrial customers with always on low carbon power.
“There is now real momentum behind UK nuclear, the government, employers and workers must now work together to press on with rolling out this vital technology.”
