Growing our collective voice: the Aircraft Engineers and Mechanics Committee

30 June 2026

Prospect members working across aviation know how vital it is that aircraft engineers and mechanics have a strong, collective voice on the issues that affect their working lives. One of the ways Prospect is strengthening that voice is through the Aircraft Engineers and Mechanics Committee (AEMC) – a member led committee that brings engineers and mechanics together from across our aviation branches. Its continued development is a clear example of how Prospect’s aviation work is growing and evolving to meet members’ needs.

The AEMC, now in its second year, forms part of Prospect’s aviation sector and provides a collective voice for members working across the aircraft engineering profession. Chaired by Chris Graham, the committee is made up of elected volunteers drawn from Prospect’s aviation branches.

The AEMC engages on a wide range of issues, including regulatory and policy discussions with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), addressing recruitment and retention challenges, monitoring pay rates across the sector, boosting apprenticeships, promoting women in engineering, championing health and safety and developing international partnerships through Aircraft Engineers International (AEI).

This growing work is shaped directly by members and reflects Prospect’s commitment to building strong, active structures for aviation professionals. A key moment in the committee’s calendar is its annual conference, which provides a valuable opportunity for collaboration, discussion and networking among members, alongside presentations from guest speakers covering a broad range of industry relevant topics.
