Prospect launches new MoD branch amid defence reform changes
Prospect has launched a new, unified Ministry of Defence (MoD) branch, bringing together multiple existing branches into a single structure to better support members.
The new arrangements are aimed at reflecting the evolving MoD ‘quad structure’ and will include sections covering Department of State, MSHQ and National Armaments. The new structure will help focus support for members at branch, section and subsection level. The branch’s inaugural Annual Delegate Conference will take place in May.
Defence Reform
Prospect continues to engage with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) on all aspects of defence reform. The pace of change, and the lack of clarity around the new structures, has been frustrating, but we continue to engage with the employer to input our views and seek firm protections for members. The central National Armaments Directorate Group has been repositioned as “National Armaments”, and the executive agency DE&S has been renamed the National Armaments Delivery Executive (NADEx) this month.
Prospect continues to seek clarity for our members, working to ensure job security, maximise terms and conditions, and ensure workplace safety remains paramount.
Global Conflict and Prospect Defence Members
Prospect members in defence across the public sector are directly and indirectly involved in supporting the UK’s military deployment across the globe. You will have seen our commentary around HMS Dragon in recent weeks.
Prospect members in defence are based right across the globe, including at military bases in Cyprus. These bases often have civilian populations supported by vital services, including schools, medical facilities, dentistry, and health and safety, provided by Prospect members.
