Prospect responds to report on Civil Service Pension Scheme
Responding to the NAO report on administration of the Civil Service Pension, Prospect Deputy General Secretary Steve Thomas said:
“The NAO’s findings will come as no surprise to anyone who has dealt with civil service pension scheme administrators, with Prospect members frequently having to wait on hold for at least an hour to speak to someone at MyCSP.
“Behind the statistics about missed targets are cases of real civil servants who have suffered financial detriment because of delayed payments or who have had to delay their retirement due to missing or incorrect information.
In this context, the forthcoming move from My CSP to Capita brings additional pressures and potential risks to an already unsatisfactory situation.
“The Government must now learn lessons from this report, closely monitor the performance and give pension scheme administrators the resources they need to do their job effectively.”
