Prospect is the perfect trade union for workers in the solar and renewables sector and can also help companies retain talent and improve standards, was the message given at an industry and trade event in London this April.

Prospect Negotiations Officer Adam Flanders was speaking on a panel discussing ‘trade union engagement for the sector’ at Solar & Storage at the ExCel Centre.
Other panellists included Gemma Grimes, Director of Policy & Delivery at Solar Energy UK and Ed Bratt, a National Officer from Unison.
The conversation on the panel covered issues such as what trade unions do; practical benefits that unions can offer workers; recognition at bodies such as Great British Energy; through to the successful push for the Fair Work Charter in offshore wind.
Prospect Negotiations Officer Adam Flanders said:
“I was at the event to talk about the positive role trade unions can play in the energy sector and why companies should see Prospect as a critical friend, not something to fear.
“Prospect is the right union for the energy sector because our members are among the most specialised, highly skilled workers and subject matter experts across the industry. That depth of knowledge is what sets us apart.
“My message was simple: start with trust, not fear. Constructive engagement with Prospect can help companies build confidence, retain talent, improve standards and support a sector where skilled workers can build lasting careers.”
