Prospect writes to new Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster
Prospect has written to the new Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Louise Haigh, congratulating her on her appointment and requesting a meeting to discuss the government’s agenda for the civil service and the issues that matter most to our members.
In the letter, we set out a number of key priorities, including:
- Delivering meaningful progress on pay progression for specialist civil servants,
- Ensuring Prospect members are genuine partners in the government’s Future Civil Service Reform agenda,
- Building on the recently agreed partnership framework between Prospect, the FDA and the Cabinet Office,
- Addressing the ongoing failures in the administration of the Civil Service Pension Scheme and ensuring members receive the support and service they deserve.
The letter comes as the government announces machinery of government changes affecting departments across Whitehall with DSIT being replaced by DBIST, DDCMS and the Cabinet Office.
Prospect branches are already engaging with DSIT and DBT and the Cabinet Office to ensure members are kept informed as we press for the changes to be fully consulted over in detail to understand which teams are in scope of moving where and the impact. Prospect has been working to secure early commitments that changes made will be without detriment to job security and that terms and conditions are protected.
General Secretary Mike Clancy says in the letter that Prospect is committed to working constructively with ministers to ensure specialist civil servants are properly recognised, rewarded and supported to deliver high-quality public services.
