Urgency on workforce planning needed to deliver clean energy goals, says Prospect
Further government intervention in workforce planning is required if the UK’s clean energy targets are to be met, says a new report from the House of Commons Energy Security and Net Zero Committee.

Sue Ferns OBE, Prospect Senior Deputy General Secretary, gave evidence to the committee in May for their inquiry on “Workforce planning to deliver clean, secure energy.”
Responding to the committee’s report on workforce planning, she said:
“The committee is right to say that the workforce is key to delivering our clean energy goals.
“We need an integrated skills plan across government to deliver the right skills in the right places.
“The industrial strategy is a good start but urgency is now required to match skills with the development of good jobs at the pace that is required to decarbonise energy within the set timescale. Working with unions must be a central part of that.”
