Defence

We have more than 11,000 specialists, scientists, engineers and managers working in the defence industry.

Prospect represents the professional interests of 11,000 scientists, engineers and managers across the defence industry – in the public and private sector.

We have years of experience in the defence industry, and we have successfully protected thousands of highly skilled jobs with good terms and conditions.

Who do we represent?

If you’re a specialist in the defence industry, we can represent you. We represent thousands of members in the defence sector, who are on the front line in more ways than one.

Our members include civilian specialists in the MOD, providing vital support and expertise to the armed forces; they include specialists who maintain frontline equipment at BAE; and they include specialists working at the Atomic Weapons Establishment, QinetiQ, Babcock International Group (including Rosyth and Devonport Dockyards), and more.

What are we campaigning on?

This is an important time for the defence industry. We’re working to ensure the government’s new defence strategy will benefit workers.

Increased spending must deliver on supporting high-quality jobs in the UK and bring benefits for local communities.

Health and safety reporting

Prospect has a network of safety representatives in the Defence Sector and has a proud history of protecting our members at work. As part of that ongoing commitment, we are monitoring concerns across the sector. You can play your part in that by using our online form to report incidents, accidents, health concerns and any other matter you think we should be aware of. This doesn’t replace your normal workplace method of reporting, so please still complete the accident book or follow your workplace procedure.
