Women continue to retire with significantly less pension income than men.

Our research shows the gender pension gap stands at 32.9%, leaving many women facing financial disadvantage later in life, when there is little opportunity to make up the difference.

Driven by caring responsibilities, lower lifetime earnings, and inequalities within the pensions system itself, the gap remains largely ignored by government.

Prospect is calling for urgent action to measure, monitor and tackle the gender pension gap, ensuring women can look forward to a more secure retirement.
